2017 is just around the corner. And like always we all have made our resolutions (including plans to lose weight , trying new things, following your hobby, waking up early and what not!) bucket lists, goals etc. for ‘the best year ever’. So what if we didn’t follow these plans in 2016. Or 2015. Or even 2014. Well, you get the drift. But, 2017 is going to be great.
And of course, on top of everybody’s list of resolutions is: lose weight. As much as we try to incorporate some activities like going to the gym or jogging or cycling in our daily routines, we can’t deny that after a time these rigorous activities seem such a task. Understanding this problem, we have curated a number of quite easy and quick ways to lose weight. Have a look!
1. Have a cup of coffee!
Start your day with a cup of coffee. Coffee contains caffeine which helps in mobilizing fats from the fat tissues and increases metabolism. Some studies show that caffeine increases a person’s metabolic rate by 3-11%. The more a person’s metabolism is, the more he can eat without gaining.
2. Drink water before every meal
Drinking two glasses of water, 30 minutes before every meal helps in losing weight. An intake of water before every meal reduces a person’s appetite. Hence, you automatically consume less food. Also, drinking water before breakfast reduces the amount of calories consumed during the meal by 13%.
3. Get enough sleep
As much as you want to binge watch the new Netflix series everybody is talking about or as much as you want to stalk people on social media, you got to put your phone down and get a good night sleep. Because when you haven’t had enough sleep, your body will lack the energy to perform day-to-day functions, which includes burning calories efficiently. So, turn off the lights and drift off to la la land.
4. Spice up your meals!
This is not a difficult task for us, Indians, to achieve, is it? We thrive on spices after all. Spicy food, especially jalapeno and cayenne peppers, contains the compound called capsaicin. It helps in the release of stress hormones such as adrenaline which boosts your metabolism and your ability to burn calories. So, add some spice in 2017!
5. Eat a healthy breakfast
Eating a healthy breakfast plays a great role in helping a person to reduce weight. It reduces your cravings. Hence, you munch less on unhealthy snacks and reduce the calorie intake throughout the day. Aim for a 300-400 calorie breakfast of a healthy mix of protein and whole grains.
6. Sip some Green Tea and Lose weight!
Green tea is definitely the healthiest drink on the planet. Many of the studies have shown that green tea helps in losing weight thanks to its innumerable medical properties. Its key antioxidant ‘Catechins’ are said to be mainly responsible for the burning of fats and boosting metabolism while burning these fats.
7. Eat fruits. Don’t drink them!
Fruit juice contains very less fiber and more sugar which does more harm than good. A study shows, a 250 ml glass would be equal to having 10 spoons of sugar even when no sugar has been added. Also, it is important to note that while it is often marketed as healthy and natural, juice is not a low-calorie beverage. So, skip the drink and pick up the fruit the next time!
